Ran into this 1990 penny. I swear i see an S mint mark. Its definitely not a proof, which makes it very wierd. Tried looking it up but could not find anything. What you guys think?

There are a lot of different and kinder ways to answer people's questions. Making fun of them and making people feel bad is not helping them out.

I wasn't making fun of you. It is a term that is used quite often by many of our members. If you think I'm exaggerating, use our search option and see for yourself.

It's an issue on the field of the planchet which makes it look like a phantom mintmark. Like a blemish. So when one thing looks like something similar to what we know we call it pareidolia.. Es una explicacion muy simple amigo. No te enojes.

When you are looking for "errors" you are looking for things that are familiar to you, which in coins is letters and numbers. Thus "weird things" are thus interpreted to letters and numbers.

The hardest thing about "searching for errors" in circulated / damaged coins is being unbiased in interpreting what you see.

I don't know what was said, as it is all edited. But I was not trying to be funny.
I didn't see anything, and I just assumed it was a case of pareidolia which is common.
I said "No" because I didn't see anything, and it didn't really warrant any more of a response.
But, in real life, I am a very funny guy.
