Thank you so much, she was the joy and love of my life but I knew the day was coming just not that soon or under the circumstances that she left us. But I made her promises I would keep going so I do just that.
I think I may edit the thread message but I think I am going to just find away to just hide the coins, and hope for the best. While I am at the new place I will get my drivers license and since I won't have to pay rent I will just save up money . I know I was a fool not to save money, but that is a whole book I would have to write to explain the reasoning.

No need to explain. Life happens. I could swap war stories with you. I do believe with all my heart and soul that a pathway is set for folks that do right. It isn’t always an easy path. But I know one day you will look back and understand why.

Are you kidding? When it comes to money, don't trust anyone! Take it from the voice of experience. I learned the hard way.

I don't want to keep my coins in a bank or storage where I have to GO SOMEWHERE to do what I do with them . You are in a tough spot and I don't know how many coins your collection includes . I'm looking into a small , heavy safe for mine as I like to keep them close at hand for inspection and such . It won't be impossible to move but awkward and the valuable coins aren't readily exposed . I'm afraid we both share the same concerns about when the collection is unattended and the only sure security is a Safe Deposit Box .

I totally understand, knowing I am going to be homeless a relative I lent $5,000 to refuses to pay me back "because they are tired of the apartment they live in and want to move" I also watched there kids for 8 hours a day, 7 days a week while taking care of my mom and never offered me anything. And I have a few drug addicts in the family so believe me I know, but I feel I have no choice, the selling of my coins might be a problem now because the only coin seller near me does not even have a business anymore but he is willing to come to my house (just found it strange) and the only option in this limited time frame is to pawn it and that is a hell no from me.
I guess my options are to just bring everything to the new place or put half in storage and half in the new place.

Yea i have mine in a 2 draw file cabinet that locks, but I may modify it before I leave (take out the handles and might even tape it up and put fire proof coating (which is white) and hope it looks good enough to hide or something lol

I guarantee that anyone who wants to get into your file cabinet can do so in a matter of minutes. It sounds like your best bet would be a safe deposit box. You should be able to rent one for $25 or so per year.

I will look into it, many other's have suggested it too, I may be paranoid but I know 2 banks near me that had there safety deposit boxes raided so yea I am a bit hesitant but I will definitely look it up more and even a "safer" area.

I would put the coins in a safe or file cabinet and buy a motion detection camera. Both aren't too pricing and provide some security for your coins. Unless the coins are worth 10's of thousands, it is probably best to have a little security without spending too much money to secure them.

If you don't have any savings or a job, it seems financially irresponsible to hold onto several thousand dollars' worth of coins. I would recommend selling and putting some of the proceeds into an interest-bearing account, but look into your options.

If you are a member of the ANA, they have very reasonable insurance for coin collections.

I believe I found a solution, I am going to think more on it but I am going to have 1/3 of coins near me in a safe, 1/3 at a relative house who I do trust (I told them my issues and they offered to put them in a safe spot in the house) and I will put 1/3 the non silver coin collections and junk silver in the storage.

There is a reason why I did this at the time, but the biggest hurdle was I was not expect my mom to not go this quickly, but there are other factors in this as well.
I will be saving cash now and won't be buying anymore coins and I won't have rent to pay so I will just be saving cash in a interest bearing account. I am really hesitant in selling them, if I was going to be 100% homeless then yes I would of but I have a place so selling them would be a last resort.

Call around to all the banks in the area, find one with a large safety deposit box available and rent it.

You could look into a gun safe. Dick's, Cabela's or your local gun store. The local store will most likely deliver. They can weight a substantial amount, making them difficult to move without help. Some are fire rated. And it would be a lifetime investment so selling some of your coins to purchase it might be cost effective.

I am going to sell about 30% of my coins in one lot in the market place here.
Some of the foreign and not so expensive into storage and the rest I guess will come with me.
I thought about giving it to someone I trust but I honestly have trust issues lol

Store what you have with a trusted friend or an parental figure.......the findings you have are not 'high end' but they are truly collectible. It would be a pity to loose what you have gained, and amassed as a young person. This is your basis, your initiation into the hobby, so to speak. Don't throw it away by selling it. It's a time capsule, and one that you will look back upon as hence your beginning.

Buy the cheapest little shelf safe you can find. Inside it put a rock, a handful of pennies...just enough so it feels heavy and sounds "coiny" when you shake it. The FIRST thing burglars will go for is that safe. Make it an easy low hanging fruit for them to find and they'll abscond with it quickly and leave, thinking they got the loot.

Meanwhile your real coins are hidden away in a much more clever and hard to find location.
