I went to the Grapevine Coin Show this morning. A good show for type set hunting. Picked up several quarters (SLQ, Barber and Washington), a peace dollar and a lincoln steel cent. When I was working on my Franklin half and IHC sets, hardly any were to be found at previous shows. Plenty available this time. Of course, lots of Morgans in both raw and slabbed. Overall, a good show.
Show was good - couple of new sellers. The problem with having so many shows in North Texas is sometimes you go to 3 different locations and its the same dealer selling the same old tired merchandise. Some things I recognize from 6 months ago
Fer sure... some of the same old same old... one dealer has 3 FCS (long cardboard holders) and 4 photocerts he's had for 6 months but won't come down on price.
Might want to really check the date on your 1923 dollar; the "2" and "3" exhibit what might be die issues. Doubling or polishing perhaps. Hard to tell from the photos but worth a closer look.
I checked. It was the angle of the picture and lighting that made it look like there was some doubling.
Local show today; one dealer sold over $6,000 in coins; some in currency. I found ZERO for my collection. Fellowship and browsing was good; free coffee and donuts too.
