    Hey all...

Relatively new here, and after reading the many threads on inventory software and seeing the large Excel spreadsheet following, thought I would ask if someone might share their excel inventory file with me.

Now hold on! No, I don't want any of your personal collection info, but am interested in the year row headings (and columns too) which would already be populated with year and mint mark.

I am so excited to begin inventorying my collection that I have decided to follow the advice here and use excel.

let me know if open to this...

    thanks!

hehe... OK, perhaps that request was over stepping my boundaries.

But after I create one for me, I'll be happy to share with anyone (new) to the hobby.

Question for thosing a spreadsheet, do you use a quantity to indicate your coin, or a value (such as redbook)? Or count by grade, value kept separate?

I can see where using the value would be easy for a Type collection, based upon having one of each year/mint; but would probably have scalability problems over the long run.

I have repackaged virtually all my quarter dollars, and spent time learning about each type. My wife is already concerned I am spending too much time on my coins. :kewl:

    Thanks!

Well - way back when I used excel I included grade, cost and red book value. Plus a few other fields - I also just kept the coins on separate worksheets - one per type. I hated having to update it - so I canned it and use coin elite now. I recommend keeping it simple and the wife happy. :)

As I was working on creating an inventory sheet for my quarters last night, I thought to myself 'self, there must be a template out there somewhere'!

    Sure enough. Many thanks!

Also, thanks to those who dropped me a pm.

TRT2, PM me your e-mail address, and I'll send you the spreadsheet I just started for my collection. To boot, I've got separate tabs for my U.S. coins, U.S. paper notes, world coins, world paper notes, and ancient coins.
