About a week ago, I bid on and won on Ebay an " East Detroit Coin Club" anniversary medal for my shadow box display in my den.

Fridays mail arrived, I received a package with 2 medals. " Pontiac MI Coin Club" , both real nice medals.

So, I email the seller and notify them, " Thank You, but I think we have a mistake, and someone who won this item has probably received my EDCC medal by accident. Please look into this, I would not want the other party upset, although actually, I would be fine with it, as shipping costs more than the item I won.

Well, This woman emailed me back, and I'll paraphrase here.
" My husband is going to kill me. I'm so sorry, I knew I would just screw something up totally, I did NOT want to do his ebay while he was away. Thank you for letting me know and I will get to the bottom of this."

She then emails back, that she cannot find any auction items with the PCC medals and is very confused, and very upset at her husband. She just knew this was going to happen. " My husband will kill me if I get him a negative feedback"

THEN, my memory kicks in. About a week ago, Jim M from this site had sent a PM asking for my address, he has a little something for me because he knows I collect Michigan and Detroit related stuff.

Ahhhhh, lol, what have I done to that poor woman !!!

I received the EDCC coin club medal Saturday, and emailed her back, explaining the situation, and we got a good laugh, thank goodness everything went well.

She did say, " just wait untill my husband gets home, I'm going to tell him I will not do "his" ebay anymore, he can do it himself.

Neat story I thought I would share. And a BIG THANKS to Jim M for the great medals !!!!

Good story Jack and glad it worked out well. Amazing what a little communication will do.

I actually DID have a seller send me a wrong coin once. Won an auction for an 1866 2 Cent Peice and he sent me a 65. Emailed him and he realized he had already sold the 66. Now the 65 was nice so I made him a lower offer. He sent me a check for the difference and we both walked away happy with positive feedbacks.

Of course you know that woman's husband hates you now. ;)

i won a commemorative coin a while back. the seller mixed up 2 boxes and sent me the same commemorative set. I bid on the 2 coin set of 2 silver dollars. I was sent the 3 coin set with 2 silver and a GOLD. I was extatic to say the least. This was before i bought my own Buffalo, so this was the very first gold coin i ever held in my hand (which was also in a plastic capsule placed in the packaging, but hey, it was in my hand) I held out for a bit, hoping the mistake would never be caught :D but the seller emailed me asking if i got the wrong package, so i owned up to it. I shipped them the package back, and eventually got my right set. They offered to pay me the return shipping, but i just told them to calll it even :D My co-workers call me an idiot - but i would never want to see a coin i bought get stolen like that if it was sent to the wrong adress.. let alone the panic the seller must have been going through!

good to hear the confusion didnt last long Jack .. Enjoy the medals .. All of them :D
