In Oct. 2018 Kunker had several pieces I was interested in. One in particular had a an estimate of 500 Euros. I placed a bid of 8000 Euros and sweated for three weeks until I won the coin for 4000 Euros. Happy to get it. I was beat like a drum on six other pieces. That blew my budget for 2019. https://www.sixbid.com/browse.html?auction=5149&category=161073&lot=4308060
Just checked my bid, I ended up winning it for 650 euros. AV 1/4 Dukat 1761 from Waldeck / Furstentum/ Karl August Friedrich Furst Zum Waldeck/ Prachtexamplar I had set a max. bid of 850 euros.
I won the coin below, in one of their elive auctions. Great service, also for those bidders with no to much to spend. That time i bid on a few coins live, via internet. Not much luck, but this one i did get for a fair price. Some times you have to be lucky i guess. Hopefully you will getyour luck too Kazuma78!
I put in a couple bids for 2x estimate and lost both. I wanted to bid on more buy blew my spending cash on @lordmarcovan coin sale and had a couple outstanding bids on other items that I ended up winning. But now that i know about Kunker, i will DEFINITELY be a bidder in the future. Thanks for the comments and information everyone!!
Thanks Mat. That example is the fourth I have seen in auction ever. Waldeck coins are not seen that often....
Kuenker just sent out a e mail discussing their auctions and bragging about the amounts people bid on their coins. Some went many times over estimate. It was interesting that 3 of the coins I was interested in but did not win were featured on this e mail. This auction for me was a bit of a running gun fight, except I was doing most of the running.
I purchased this from Künker through @ma-shops and was very happy with my experience. I believe they conservatively and accurately represent grades. Ask me in two months what NGC gives it.
I put just one bid in this auction (X2 times estimate on a Dombes gold half pistole) and ended being outbid too. I have no regrets ; sad, of course for being outbid, but no way I could afford bidding more than I did... Q
I bid on a 1/2 Pistole 1575 Fast Stempelglanz in Auction 234. My winning bid was 2400, while estimate was 2000. But prices have gone way up since June 2013 I am sure that the coinage from Dombes is very rare.
I know your 1/2 pistole John (and have always been green with envy). Yes it's very rare. That very 1577 1/2 pistole was known to Divo as unique, but another example popped up twice at Haidelberger's auctions in the past two years. It's the same example that was sold again yesterday. Q
I received the invoice today and I won all 3 coins! What about you, did you win your third coin? If so, I am eager to see it!
Yep, I got it . Received and paid the invoice this morning. The coin deserves a nice writeup plus I want to use my own photos even though Künker's photography is perhaps the best in the business. It might be a month or more before you see it here.
Congrats - nice catch! Did you send it already to NGC? Or are you leaving soon (2 month) and bringing it to NGC in the US directly? I am really sorry I could not make it to munich, how was it?… and THANK YOU so much for the M&M's! Now I have two favorites!!! Peanutbutter AND Caramel. I had to hide them from my daughters - they were like junkies on turkey and searching through my kitchen for the sweets
Is Kuenker quite "known" in the US? Sorry to ask that question, but I really don't know how well-known european dealers are in america… just curious
