Yeah, some of the driving is a full day's worth basically, but it does have the location that would pull from a lot of states.

I would like to meet some people from this site but it would have to be a major city I can fly into. I am not going to fly and then drive 300 miles no matter how nice some of you are.

Well, that is the downside of a place like Evansville. Similar to the town I live in, the flying in is available, but not great for prices, etc.

I’ll vote Rhode Island as the location. ;)

I am new here so certainly don't want to make any of the decisions .. but willing to help in any way I can. I suggest a city with an international airport and coincide with a show that we know has many ancient dealers.

The ISNA is also still having their annual show in Indianapolis in December. In my opinion, Indianapolis is easier to get to than Evansville.

    Yes, Indianapolis would be better.

I am not collecting ancients, but if the medieval coins also counts, I am in for anywhere in Western Europe, Lyon would be OK but Frankfurt in November that coincide with numismata would be great!

And, hey... Even if it is more the CTers in the regional area and not a worldwide attendance (and maybe many other regional CTer meet ups occurring elsewhere, be them in US, Canada, France, Germany, etc), I think we all still win, right? Then, who knows, next year or the year after, regions start merging, and so on, and so on.

I guess one of the answers at least for the time being might be to try to set up some informal meetings at an existing coin show. The only problem would be then to pick a time and a place to meet at that show.

I think Justin has it... I live in an area with no Ancient Coin Clubs and no local coin shows that feature any large or interesting Ancient Dealers... Perhaps the answer is that members who are lucky enough to be near or are thinking of traveling to an event share it early. I see the posts "I am going this weekend to the XXX show - who is going?" ..well no one.. it's too late to make any sort of plans.
Pity that "CoinTalk" will never allow "sticky" threads that could really help the community.

Another idea. Create buttons to wear that say CT Member and Ancients. Wear it at shows.

This is the listing of the ancient coin dealers at the ANA Chicago show in August(13-17):
    https://coin-dealer-directory.money.org/coin-dealer-listings/ancient-coins-dealers
and it looks like there is a section for ancients and worlds:
    https://www.money.org/uploads/2019 Chicago Floor Plan-3.pdf
I'm assuming August is too soon to have a Coin Talk Ancients get together there to start(?)
or are these mostly World dealers and less Ancients(?). I haven't been to this show before so please advise how good they are with ancients. It would be great if a meetup could be part of this, that is if this is a good show to go to.....

Carausius Brother, can you spare a sestertius?

I hate to be a killjoy on this convention topic, but I think many of you are shooting for the stars. @Terence Cheesman has suggested the best approach: organize a simple get-together for Cointalkers at a MAJOR show (ANA, NYINC, CoinEx, Numismata). Start a topic "Any CT members want to meet at [Insert Name of Major Show]?" And plan something simple, like a lobby meeting-greeting or a meal. You might get just 4 or 5 people together, but that's great! I've made some terrific friendships this way.

There is a large group of ancient coin dealers from around the globe at the annual ANA convention show. It's an excellent show, second only to NYINC for US shows with ancient coin dealers. I'd recommend it highly.

I think I'd like to plan to attend the ANA in August (never been yet) and would love to plan to connect with others there.
