I was hoping someone could give me the greysheet ask prices for the follwing mercury dimes: 1918 EF 1918-S EF 1919-D EF 1921-F Going to a show today and I'll be looking for these coins. Thanks!
I am sure that someone will post the ask prices for these coins very soon! Myself, I don't use the greysheets as they are totally biased towards the Coin Dealer. I use the Coin Values Magazine and depending on the spread between the price of the coin at the specific grade and the next lower grade, if I can get it below or way below the next lower grade price, then I feel that I have done fairly good. You will find that nowadays most Coin Dealers purchase from the public (Private individuals) at 20% back of greysheet bid and sell to the public close to the retail price in the Coin Values Magazine which is a very significant difference. These are from Jan. 2007 Issue. I'm sure they went up since then. Ask Prices. 1918-22.00 1918 s-15.00 1919 d-29.00 1921-100.00 Rhubarb
Thanks guys, I've got the Coin Values online prices. I was going to base these against greysheet ask and try to establish what I'd be willing to pay. I've been looking for nice examples of these coins in these grades for awhile (no cleaning or distracting marks). So if I find a nice one I'd probably pay what the dealer wanted within reason. I've been collecting liberty head dimes for quite some time now and some dates are tough to find with no problems in EF. I just wanted to have as much possible info as I could before going to the show, thanks again. I'm on my way!
You must remember that coin prices are depending on many things and one of them is location. I've found over the years that the more popular a coin show, the higher the prices of all coins. The larger the city it is in, the higher the prices of coins. The more expensive the entrance fees, parking fees, table rentals, the higher the prices are. You can go to a coin show armed with grey sheets, Red Books, other price guides and find nothing means nothing due to so many different situations.
