    Hello everyone,

I was wondering what kind of coin this was? It is a 1980 coin probably from China. Doesn't look like a legal tender coin.

    Thanks!

Looks like some sort of friendship medal (USA/CHINA?). Not sure if it is acoin at all. If it is, it might be "legal tender", but doubtful that it was meant to circulate.

As a side note, it looks like you have taken it out of the plastic case for photographing. It's your decision, of course, but I would personally not be in the habit of taking coins out of protective cases for fear of various contaminants landing on the coin's surface.

The legends say it's from the Republic of China (Taiwan version), issued in conjunction with an economic and trade conference. It is not a coin, legal tender or otherwise.

I think that Taiwan was one of the countries that made commemorative rounds for the 1980 Olympic games. However, I cannot verify this. My google searches are not giving me any more info.

That may be, but if they did, this is not one of them. The legend is about economics and trade, not athletics.

Could it be a medal commemorating a trade agreement reached in 1980?
