Here's a trivia question that my brother stumped me with today, I figured that I'd share. Can anyone here successfully identify the first 3 commemorative quarters produced by the United States? Hint: The correct answer may surprise you.
ok... that's the first and you also got the 3rd... the bicentennial the 2nd has been mentioned here, so I will let you guys have the answer so I can go to work. The answers are: 1892 Isabella Quarter, the 1932 Washington Quarter, and the 1776-1976 Bicentennial Quarter
interesting to note, that of the 3, the only one that was intended to be a circulating coin was the bicentennial
Interesting. So, the 1932 was not meant for circulation? and it turned out to be the longest running design for the obverse of a quarter.
It was supposed to be a one year commemorative, but somebody didn't like Lady Liberty or something, because she never returned - with or without her brassiere.
1892 Isabella 1932 Washington Bicentennial Dang! I knew the correct answer but got here to late. I wish you had held on on giving the answer for a while longer.
sorry hobo... had to go to work and didn't want to leave them hanging for 10 hours... next time I'll let it go longer
According to Roger Burdette the 1932 quarter was NOT intended to be a one year only commemorative. (but it is rue that the Washington coin was originally intened to not be a circulating coin, because it was originally intended to be a commemorative HALF dollar.)
