Trying to find information on 2006 Die Cracks for the lincoln cent. I am posting 2 of the 29 pennies that I have with die cracks if that is what they are. Need advice on this. New to collecting and have no idea but have bunches of ?????????. Any help is greatly appreciated. Chad
Looks as if abe's got a leech or two in his hair. Is that a hairline crack connecting the two cuds. Or I guess they may be die chips as I just learned that cuds originate from the rims of the coin and die chips are locate towards the interior.
Hey Chad, Welcome to the forum. You found the twin to my 2006p Lincoln! Or, whatever the 'twin' word is for the many that you found! I too believe it is a die crack. I have several of these coins, from one skinny crack which progressed to the shaved off cud. Will try to post them if I can figure out how to make them clearer at this size. Congratulations on your find. jeankay
More Pictures of different pennys I am going to list some other lincoln cents and want everyones opinion. 1. Is a 1982 with what I think is a DD on the reverse. I have only been able to find information on these that covered only 2 other like it. Note that the dd is above the field on these coins and not flush with the field. A. B. C. D. E. F. F. These are two different 1982 lincoln cents. Whats everyones opinion on these.
More Pictures of different pennys 1st is a 2000 DDR I think. What does everyone think. A. B. C. D. 2nd is a 1983 with a die crack that I believe goes scross the entire penny from the (I) in united to the (I) in America. A. B. 3rd This is a funny one. When did Lincoln stop using his Acne solution. Answer is 1983. A. Thought everyone may find humor in that one.
Chada, A. Die deteroation doubling. Mike Diamond knows this very well. Correct me Mike if I'm wrong I have been before. B. Same as A. C. Same as A. D. Machine Doubling. It look's like there may be 3. common effects. E. Same as D. F. Same as D. If you'll look for Ziggy9, his Avatar is the only coin found that I know of that has a 1982 reverse true doubled die. Also you can view error and varieties at www.coppercoins.com. Nice pictures. Rhubarb
Mike, You say machine doubling. Treat me as stupid becuase I am new at coin collecting. Whats the difference between machine doubling and Double Die. Chad
Chada, First off, no one is stupid when there trying to learn. Machine Doubling is a shelf like appearance or look's like a set of step's. Look at the reverse on the Memorial step's. It comes in different width's depending on the rotation of the coin when it struck multiple times. It sometimes appears as doubling when it really isn't. Take the 1969 S picture with the digit's and MM. This is machine doubling also. Rhubarb
