Well , here's what I suggest all the AU graders should do. Go into the Heritage web site and look at these 2 MS63 graded Walkers by PCGS and NGC and take a close-up look at the details. Lot # 24456 and # 13367 ( there are certainly others ). I think you will see striking similarities to this coin. This coin even looks better to me , but I'm just an amateur like most and have been wrong many times.

Okay Vincent - I've looked at 20 to 30 on eBay and you seem to be correct about the amount of wear that is acceptable to still be considered MS by the top two TPG's. That gouge on the face is still going to hurt the grade. I have no idea by how much. If not for the gouge then based on what I have seen then yes - maybe MS.

OK. I have taken some more pics. With my present setup I don't think I can get any better images than these. It is a BIG file. Hope it doesn't bog anyone down! The spot on her cheek in person is not noticeable.

Thanks Carl - Think it looks more like Die Fatigue on the ends and light reflection in other areas. Those photo's are really good!

As I stated I am no expert so Vincents grade may be more accurate than any - personally I don't know how it could better than AU which still isn't bad!!! It's a nice looking coin anyone would be happy to own!

    Best Regards,

    Darryl

Opinions... Opinions .. Opinions... That's what it's all about. I think everyone who has responded to this has valid points to be considered. Hey Carl ... send it off for grading. I'll even pay the $20 if it comes back AU. How's that for an offer !!!

That's a very nice gesture, Vincent.
But if the coin does come back MS-60, he paid $20 to slab a $30 coin.
It's a nice coin, but I wouldn't want to spend the money just for that.
    Again, nice gesture though.
    :)

Nice coin! I'd still have to say AU, but I could be wrong. Still a very nice coin! :thumb:

Curious, what do you mean by 'previously looked like'?

    Very nice coin...

The coin originally was from this bunch. Did a quick dip in ammonia. Don't hate me!

I was surprised that nobody else caught that! :D

I see he dipped them in ammonia ....... that's OK if you ask me. Hopefully they weren't scrubbed or even rubbed up a bit. His close-up pics, they looked hairlined to me so I was wondering about that well before I saw his last post.

I am going to post a reply I made to Carl in PM about these coins. He made a homemade coin dip, out of ammonia & vinegar, based on an article he read on the PCGS web site.

I think the moral of this story is not to believe everything you find on a web site.
