Hey everyone, I was wondering if these two coins have natural toning? The elevation chromatics on the stars on the Morgan seem good, and the colors on both coins follow the correct pattern. I think they're good, but I wanted your advice. Thanks for any help! These are not my pictures, they are from eBay from the same seller. Notice the small areas with no toning facing the edge rom the stars. I don't know what happened with the back, but I'm speculating this to be an album toner and the back stayed on there for a bit too long. This one looks a bit odd with the brighter looking colors, but it looks pretty authentic enough to me. Thanks for any help!
If you’re looking for premium-worthy flips, absolutely not. Both are utter dogs. Keep in mind even natural toning is effectively meaningless if to the point it’s damage or damaging the coin.
I see nothing unusual about the toning on either the Morgan or the Merc. The obverse of the merc is interesting, but the reverse is to far gone. Like Chris mentioned, the Morgan reverse is terminal. I don't find either toning pattern particularly attractive, but they do look "naturally" toned to me.
They appear toned from being plugged into a book of some sort for an extended time. That cardboard black toning that isn’t very appealing to look at really. I couldn’t say if that is considered natural or not.
It's natural toning but the toning is YUK to me. Not appealing at all. I'd pass and hold out for something better. The Morgan is the worse of the two.
