Quite an impressive sight to see a nickel-sized Alexander in a pile of the typical sub-dime sized ones!

Post your examples of the type, or anything unusually large/small or light/heavy for the series it belongs to!

Anyone have an Alex III drachm bigger than this one?

I've got one from my old boxes. It weighs 4.2 g. Diameter is 18 mm. It was completely black and dark when I acquired it. Thought it was bronze, but here at CT they assured to me that it was a silver Drachm of Alexander the Great. After cleaning it harshly, the silver shine appeared. By that time I used my digital camera. Struck at Lampsacus, the coin is listed as Price 1385. Here are the old original photos from old folders. Date 301 - 310 BC.

    Nice coins all!

@furryfrog02, as long as you don't buy obvious fakes from ebay sellers in China/Bulgaria, Alexander drachms are quite affordable - they were after all minted across half of the known world by the millions, and for over a century! I've sold about a dozen on ebay over the past year in about the same condition, and most go for $30-50. Only lifetime issues or types with interesting control marks (palm trees, animals, deities) tend to go for more.
