Back in Feb, @Valentinian posted a Caligula Drachm for sale on his page, I saw it and slept on it. Next morning I was surprised to see it didn't sell & thanks to my dad, I was able to get a very early 40th birthday present. Despite having a pleasing bronze provincial, there was still that itch of wanting a silver issue of Caligula, even if it wasn't an imperial. Thanks again to Warren, @Valentinian, for the great service, as usual. Caligula (37-41 A.D.) AR Drachm CAPPADOCIA, Caesarea O: C CAESAR AVG GERMANICVS Bare head of Caligula to right. R: IMPERATOR PONT MAX AVG TR POT Simpulum and lituus. 3.37g 18mm BMC 102. RIC 63 Sear 1798
A lovely coin @Mat Congratulations on getting your first Caligula silver coin! When I saw this for sale I had hoped that someone I knew had snapped it up. Great purchase.
Great capture @Mat ! Congrats on the AR Gaius... yeah, Warren @Valentinian is excellent! Woe, breaking the Bid 4-0!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MAT! Man, that's a cool 40th birthday present you got there! I think I had just got my first coins after by 40th birthday...kind of late to the game. Here is a coin I bought myself from Mat for my last birthday!
