As i said earlier, I am new at forum and coins. Question, I have ordered a few certified coins { Ikes, JFKs from lccoins}. Is this a good source? Also, some EF walkers. Is their in-house grading reputable? Thanks.
I'll reply, sorry I have never of them before, therefore I cannot give ya an intelligent answer, are they a dealer? Magazine? catalog? On the web?
I have a couple of times in the last few years. I don't have any complaints with them but have found nothing compares to a local dealer. Will give you some very good advice concerning a couple of dealers in NYC. Avoid them like a fatal disease! Over priced and notorious for selling "whizzed" (cleaned and buffed) coins.
Thanks Susan for posting the web site. From my review I can say that I probably wouldn't order from them. Their photographs are too small to see, their prices seem very high for what your getting. Example an 1883 n/c Liberty nickel and a regular 1883-1912 Nickel stated as $25.00 regular price and 19.95 on special. No grade given for either coin. You can buy examples for $4.00 in VG. This is only my opinion but this company doesn't reflect "Trust" to me. catman
He he. I have a real tough time finding online stores with good scans or photos of their coins. That's why I am starting to look more at Heritage with their Flash setup for coin viewing. Also I have found most dealers will send you larger image on email request, although many of them are horrible at digital photography. I don't know why more don't spend $120 on a good scanner.....fast and easy and usually 600dpi is all I need to see. Which reminds me, the file upload limit on this board precludes uploading 600 dpi images - understandable but too bad. That's a nice tradeoff for detail and file size. Of course that's easy for me to say, I don't pay for the bandwidth of this board.
You're right. I have never understood why someone would try to sell coins via website without large, clear pictures of the obverse and reverse. Especially with these types of items, a picture is a necessity. Granted, coin photography can take some time to get the image accurate, but it's worth every minute if it helps to sell the coin. When I go to a website that doesn't provide pictures, I always feel like they're trying to hide something.
I'm not too impressed with their prices. For example, they charge $39 for a 1986 proof set ($10 discount from their regular price of $49). The same set costs $21 at Coast to Coast coins
