Hi coin buddies i love this new forum place where everyone shares thier knowledge of coin what-nots and what is's. And i have alot of questions thanks for all your insights ive learned so much i the couple weeks ive been here. This penny i found today has strange edging impressions and divots and kinda eroded crater like and Lincoln has a couple holes in his head (ironic huh). Perhapse theres a term for this? I love error coins or knowing what is and isnt an error coin i dont assume any is worth anything i just like to know my stuff and whats going on thanks!

    Hello there
Glad you are excited about collecting
unfortunately your coin is not of any extra value,
The divots are hits from circulation, just wear and tear
    Not a Mint Error

Hi Livvers. Glad to hear you're enjoying the forum.

Unfortunately, I'm 99% sure your coin is just damaged.

The best way to go about error collecting is to educate yourself before looking. I personally made the mistake of picking out every 'odd' looking coin when I began showing interest in mint errors. I suggest you do research and become familiar with the error coin terminology (cud, die break, lamination error, MAD, etc.) before searching through change.

These websites below are great for all error coins information and are relatively easy to understand.

Nice start on your collection. The Cent you posted is damaged and is suffering from zinc rot. The Hokes were probably a plating blister that broke open.

    Welcome to CT.

Thanks i will! I reciently learned my special buddie has a side gig where he owns these breathalyzer machines in bars arround town. I didnt know this until one day he said casually that he had 1200$ in quarters to change in at the bank , i asked him how many cool coins or silver quarters he had found and he told me doesnt even look through them! I died a little on the inside knowing he doesnt even look ugh! I might actually buy these from him just for the coin love.
