bad subject came up again I hope this is not an illegal link: http://forums.collectors.com/messageview.cfm?catid=26&threadid=641913
And I'm glad you did. I'm with ya, Jack. Amazing. They charge you $30 and three weeks for an opinion... ...then charge you $20 and another week to tell you HOW and WHY they arrived at that opinion. :headbang: I think this service will be used only on very high end coins - for which the grading fee is $50 - $500 already !
Try not to restrain yourself too much. It causes high blood pressure. Let out some steam and relax. Bruce
I agree with you, Jack... just another way to milk customers. It's nuts! The whole TPG thing is starting to leave a really bad taste in my mouth... it really kicked in with that whole roll grading thing... reeks of cheap and dirty.
LOL - hanging out in the wrong parts of Detroit Jack? - good for you - I agree, another way to stick their hands in your pocket!!! Just like major banks, doctors, lawyers and car dealers. It's more about the money than the customer...
ghetto crack dealer, LMAO, I love it Arizona Jack. You have a point about PCGS they just want more money and are taking advantage of those less educated about grading. I wonder it you can get more for a coin on ebay if you include the comment sheet on how it almost made the next grade higher?
I keep telling you guys...If everyone stopped sending thier coins to them, pretty soon.''.Hey, what ever happened to PCGS?''
I agree ... the fees are ridiculous .... the process is silly. It will be a long time before I send in coins to any TPG in the near future.. at least, not until my sanity meds wear off.
so glad that everyone is finally seeing them for what they really are , dont get me started about how all of the sudden about a week into the presidential washington dollar smooth edge craze they decided to go from 15 to 40 dollars for a modern error....forty dollars .....arrrrrr
The fees and the process does not bother me. It's the ghetto grab extra $20 for a " comment ". When I received that in the mail, as a subscriber/member , I hit the freakout button. When it popped up on the thread this afternoon, I was already grouchy lol, and I went off. Put it this way. It is a Jerry Springer Show ghetto tactic in an upcoming episode, " How to totally bilk your customers and wring every freakin possible red cent ( no pun intended ) out of people who trust you" This is worse than a Rev. Sharpton shakedown. I find it totally tasteless and without class and put it in the same catagory as a restock fee. " You paid us for an opinion....oh, wait? You want a comment too? That'll cost ya extra "
Guilt by association ? I think this latest move by PCGS is absurd, but I wouldn't hold it against any other TPG. I've always been happy with NGC.
With any luck, I will have a chance to chat with David Lange at the ANA show. I have the utmost respect for David and what he has done, and was out of the loop....did not know he was with NGC. The 22-D in my avatar, I MIGHT pay the show fee to get it NGC slabbed, even if I crack it later if it does not 65, I'm sure it will tho. I have a few rolls of really premium early reds and toners. To talk first and get a feel for them in person will be a great chance to not only learn, but to develop a professional relationship if at all possible. EDIT after troodens post. I think ( real ) TPG's serve a valid purpose and they have made the market better. Some do it with class tho, there is a difference. My distaste for the biggest of them all is growing daily and based in reality. Homerun sized ego and Homerun sized greed can only be tolerated for so long. Profit and business success is the American way and American Dream. Greed is a disease. NGC is simply the best service, and will get my business in the future, on the minimal slabbing that I do submit.
