I came across this oddity in a bank roll i purchased today, (out of 100 rolls) and i cant seem too find any information on a 1992 DDO but from what it looks like (with the "9's" it is a ddo) any ideas?
It could simply be die-erosion doubling or perhaps another example of surface film doubling. (see: http://www.cointalk.org/showthread.php?t=34163&highlight=film ) I hope Mike sees this one because I'm still confused about how to determine each of these types from another. But I really don't think its a DDO. The doubling does not appear to be on the die itself - well, not from the hubbing process, anyway - the doubling is entirely to close to the surface and too balloon-lettering like. Also noticed; it radiates from center of coin outward. Likely die deterioration. Just my guess.
Sell it too you for $160 Vietnam Dong thanks for the info guys. I do appreciate it, knowing now that my retirement fund is worth enough too buy some "Preparation H"
Not a DDO, but not shelf-like like MD either- I think this might have something to do with the plating shifting during the strike.
any particular angles too which you'd like too see for better verification? I dont have a scanner so i cant scan, but i have a little hand held magnified glass and a digital camera btw, i bought $50 in Lincolns today from my local banks, so we will see what that will bring. (my eyes are hurting!!!!)
