    Just barely, but ....QC

I've seen some crazy colors on cents, but this one seems to go a bit above the norm (I will add that it might just be the TruView being enhanced and that is why I'm on the fence)

I meant that the original picture that PCGS took looks enhanced (I was not saying that you enhanced their picture)

This Franklin has been discussed on a few other platforms, what do you all think?

@Skyman I saw your comments on the CU thread and was wondering if the slab photos change your thoughts at all.

I have no idea if at or nt but it is ugly and has zero eye appeal, imo.

I’ve seen toning like that in mint sets. I’m going to say nt but ugly

It’s ugly, and it doesn’t conform to any recognized pattern or color scheme which to me indicates it is QT/AT

I disagree with your contention that it is ugly so much that it forced me to sign in. :)

If it weren't for the reverse, I'd throw my weight behind NT, as the progression of the rainbow on the obverse checks out to me. However, that red/blue pattern on the reverse that's going on just don't look right, especially around the motto.

    AT.

Give it time! It will sticker with CAC and will end up in a Legend sale where it will come with a glowing description and super inflated price.

    I vote AT.

With regards to the 1955 Franklin...

For those of you on CT that do not know, this coin was posted on CU using SOLELY the TruView image.

Part of my reply was, "... Assuming the colors in the image are correct, IMO your Franklin is AT. There are a few indicators. First off, the untoned circular splotches on the obverse are often exhibited by coins that have a liquid applied. The splotches are where air bubbles have surfaced. This is somewhat supported by the kind of liquidy look of the obverse peripheral toning from roughly 11 to 3 o'clock. My best guess is that that area is where the liquid ponded. Second, the blue exhibited on the obverse and reverse is not your common 1955 blue, which tends to be a much darker blue. The blue that is exhibited on both your obverse and reverse is a color that is often seen on a well known coin doctor's productions. The "reddish" color of the upper area of the reverse, roughly from 10 to 2 o'clock is very commonly seen with the blue associated with this doctor's coin products..."

The slab images (given the auction sticker on the reverse I'm guessing they're GreatCollections auction images) do make the Franklin look closer to MA, and thus acceptable to PCGS.

The obverse colors still look off for a 1955 Franklin. The reverse blue and the purple above it look more acceptable in the slab image, than the blue/red combo in the TV. I will point out though that the circular splotchiness becomes much more noticeable on the reverse in the slab image than in the TV image. Still, those muted circular splotches on the reverse (by which I mean the planchet has some toning in the splotchy/circular areas) are a relatively common look on Mint Set toned Franklins. I still believe the coin is AT, but obviously PCGS called it MA.

What about the possibility that the rainbow color on both sides are NT and the rest of the coin was white? Then someone wanted to enhance the colors and whatever they used, came up with these weird colors, keeping the rainbow colors intact but removing some of it resulting in splotches of removed color?

    Anyway QC.
