I don't know if I'll be able to help you, but I always prefer pictures and what is the date? Give me the date first; I might be able to find some info based solely on that.

This is what I have in an article from Coins magazine sept. 1999.

The 1979 Philadelphia coins come in near date and far date varieties. The near date is the less common of the two. Additionally, The 1979 and 1981 proof coins each have a type 1 (filled S) and type 2 (clear S) mintmark varieties. These are the most expensive coins in the series with the 1979 Type 2 listing at between $50 to $60 in Proof-65 and the 1981 Type 2 listing at between $70 and $80 in Proof-65.

Thats all I have, Nothing about any "P" mintage errors. I looked through a roll of them a couple weeks ago and if I remember correctly There were a lot of filled mintmarks. Hope this helps!

    Happy Hunting!

"Solid" mintmarks are common in most denominations. There are two causes. A die chip may remove the central "post" in the die face, leaving a solid loop in the letter on the coin's surface. Die fatigue can also obliterate the post, again creating a solid mintmark. It's not a die variety, and isn't worth anything.
