A Cat could have die polished this penny better with its claws

Meow is disappointed in the quality of some our circulating coinage. As a Cat could have die polished this penny better with its claws.

Meow is quite sure this is not PMD, as it seems clear to Meow that the scratches are bumps; And not gouges. Evident especially on and above LIBERTY.

You may have already seen some coins that are missing numbers or letters as the result of a grease-filled die. Well, now you know what a coin can look like after those "dirty dies" have been cleaned.

    Woof!

Like this quarter. Looks like Ellis Island had a smog alert that day. WIN_20180819_00_35_49_Pro.jpg WIN_20190203_06_18_15_Pro.jpg

Well if they truly disappoint you.. just send them to me and I will keep them ;)

(you can also get rid of any magnifier you have and you won't have to look at the molecular structure of your coins, I don't! .. it is bad for your eyes!)

OK good.. Don't let any coin disappoint you. Just admire them. Damaged or not.

Thanks. Meow thought it was a bit unusual to have so many of them on the penny. But Meow has set of quarters that have an unbelievable amount die polish lines. Meow posted it in the past, and was accused of posting a fake. Meow too thought it was PMD, until Meow found three identical ones in a BU roll. Its crazy looking for sure.

That looks like a removed staple. There's a 1976 D half around here somewhere with the staple still in it;)

Because the marks are the same location on both sides, wire cutters, tin snips, metal shears or the like are the most likely cause.
