Okay am i right in the assumption that if you have any "S" Lincoln pennies, that they originally came from a proof set? because i just looked threw 40 rolls of pennies and only found 1 San Fran!!! oh, and a Jamaican 1 dollar piece

here is the best pics i can get, taken with a magnifier glass, and my digi.

I also noticed by looking up the coin that there are 6 varieties LRG/SML and colors. ANY info too let me know what i have is greatly appreciated.

NOTE: I am not getting my hopes up so i am assuming it is the cheapest version possible, and not even enough of a grade too qualify.

The San Fransisco Mint produced business strike cents up through 1974. You definitely need a Red Book!

Look for DDO small s type for big bucks.

    Good luck!

No problemo, I have the site up and running when I'm sorting through my lincolns. Glad I was able to help. But as Allen suggested, you may want to invest $20 for Red Book's "Guide Book of Lincoln Cents". I bought mine here at Valley Coins. They'll do right by you.

THe small date is easiest for me to spot in the lower loop of the "9". On the large date it points down to the mint mark and on the large date it curls up to point at the "7".

These account for a little more than 10% of the mint set coins. There is a really neat S/S that accounts for about 15% of mint set coins. There are also a couple rare or scarce DDO's that don't appear in sets.
