International Women's Day today, so I'm sharing a nice selection of goddesses, personifications, and one woman that actually existed. She was also the first living Roman woman to be depicted on Roman coins; Fulvia, the third wife of Mark Antony. I hope you enjoy these beauties Top row from left: Roma, Roma, Roma, Roma, Roma and Roma. Middle row from left: Roma, Diana, Italia, Cybele, Hispania and Pietas. Bottom row from left: Diana, Ceres, Gallia, Medusa, Juno and Fulvia.
The Saserna with Gallia tends to make people drool a little, she's among my favorites in the collection
The title of the thread would have made me biased without due consideration. Nice coins. Hard to believe you can find ancients in such good condition with seemingly minimal effort.
Thank you Internet helps a lot nowadays when it comes to finding and acquiring ancients in good condition
Thank you Love that fourrée! I have this odd thing for Fulvia as well, I'm sure you've seen it already, but here's my specimen from Eumeneia
Hi Michael Stolt! A nice idea. I am excited. And I want to show some other goddesses from the Roman Republic too: Top row: Concordia, Pietas, Victoria, Libertas Middle row: Salus, Virtus, Medusa, Fortuna Populi Romani Bottom row: Diana Nemorensis, Anna Perenna, Juno Sospita, Venus Best regards
A great selection of Republicans you have there I really love the almost endless variety within Republican coinage.
som some truly strong Roman women... the two Agrippinae - one strong willed and willing to take on an emperor, the other, well maybe not so nice. Antonia - very aristocratic quintessential Roman domina, daughter of Mark Antony, mother of an emperor (Claudius) and grandmother of a madman(Caligula), and I threw in Plautilla, just because I think she was very beautiful!
I chase Roman Republic coins. I captured this one as she is a Quinarius. Neat coins - I LOVE the Marsic confed. den. That is one historical item to those who love Roman history!
I have a couple more in my limited Marsic collection. Personally, I feel it was an incredibly understated pivot point in Roman History.
