I appreciate everyones info. I am a novice when it comes to errors and die varieties, but I am trying to learn, plus you tend to learn more about the minting process when researching those little devils.
Someone else hopefully will give exact dates because I'm at a blank right now but isn't there a rule about doubling not being "real" doubling if the mint mark is also doubled. The mint used to add mint marks by hand to each working die and that was done after the working dies were pressed with the master die and that is the step where true doubling occurs.
I used to HATE it when someone would show me a mechanical doubled 1969-S coin and ask if it was the valuable one. For some reason there must have been a LOT of mechanical doubling that year. Either that or just more are noticed because a lot of people look for that date. Most have the M/M doubled along with the date. What I hated even more is the number of people who don't believe you when you tell them what they have. I don't get pestered much anymore since dropping out of the error "field" a few years ago.
