The torn corners on two dollar bills is a common thing. Some type of ritual. Don't recall exactly what it was though. I am sure someone here will fill you in on it soon enough.

This is a 5 Yen from Japan. Got some gorgeous phoenixes on the obverse!

Today's new pickup is this nicely designed green obsolete $5 from Bank of Commerce in North Carolina. Great design, the various shades of green (same shade, different engraving density makes it look darker) and quality engraving from ABNCo...

Well, it's been a couple of years since I've acquired any new notes and decided it was finally time to add Martha to the mix.. I kinda figured since she's the first and only woman to grace the primary portrait of U.S. paper currency (until the possible $20 redesign) it would be a worthy addition and I was right.. it is a beauty :)

Not graded.. I don't actually own any graded notes... I keep my large size notes in an archival sleeve inside a lucite holder.. I like the way they look and can keep them on my desk for a few hours some days when I feel like looking at one of them before I put it back in it's safe-box :)

    Looking good there Skippy...

Today's new pickup is this near solid note I got on a whim... that's alot of ones, and appropriate for the denomination, no? I normally don't get into serial numbers but I *do* want a small size frame with a ladder, a solid, and maybe a super low or super high serial. This one is close but no cigar...

    Great additions everyone.

Finding consecutive Silvers and LTs is not as unusual as it may sound. Many packs were squirreled away as rainy day emergency funds. I got this run from a fellow collector, on a different forum, from his BST post.

Two fresh from the BEP Founding Fathers 2019 set.. And this is my first Steve Mnuchin note that I've even seen, and I live near and work in Chicago!

Here is the illegally scanned version to those that read about my scanner's counterfeit-deterrence pop-up notification issue in the Paper Money Forum:

Today's new pickup is this educational $1 silver cert from the famous 1896 series. Got this on a flyer, and didn't pay as much attention as I should, because the note is bifurcated... sigh... Too bad because the engraving really holds up on the note. But, too many folds in the middle spelled it's doom. Figure this is the kind of note I might try to do minor restoration on, I've done reading on paper repair, and this is the kind of note that is worth doing, but not really paying for professional stuff on because the condition and price don't warrant it. Just some quality repair to hold the note together...

Those are AMAZING notes. I inherited one in VF condition from my grandfather. I could never afford it myself

I've alaways wanted one like yours! Its by far, my favorite design....I love the way you can see the words in our preamble to the constitution. Probably very affordable in this condition... maybe 300 bucks...im guessing...it's been a long time since I saw one for sale.

As for the back, it's two nice engravings of Martha and George Washington. Do you mind putting up of a pic of the back?

This is something pretty unique. I don't know anything about it, other than it's a "debt cancellation bond" --- whatever that means...
