I went to a coin shop today to sell the rest of my coins of all nations and I get a few things just because. First wheat penny he had labeled as smooth back, is this just ground and polished or possible split planchet. Second he had labeled as split planchet. I think I could achieve this but don't know that I could without leaving marks wondering your thoughts. Third is just a blank cent planchet I think that's real although I have not weighed it.
The Cent is damaged. Ground down intentionally. Not a Mint Error. The Nickel could be a Clamshell Lamination. The 3rd is a Type 2 Cent Blank Planchet. It has an upraised rim. Please do not hold any coin with metal tweezers!!! By doing that you are breaking the number 1 rule in what not to do in Numismatics.
I know about the metal tweezers,i will eventually get something better. And thank you for the info. I'm going to go to google to see what kind of info I can find on this. Thank you again.
@paddyman98 I google clamshell laminations for about 2 minutes before I found a thread where "someone" posted a 1980 P 25 cent with this error in a NGC holder so I ask is this worth having sent out to have graded.
The nickel looks nice!! It could be worth grading fees jus depending on the grade. I personally would not but it would have more value in a pcgs/ngc slab. Nice pick up!!!
