Several years ago while on vacation in Puerto Rico I acquired a $10 bill that had counterfeit stamped on 4 different places. Is it worth anything? I was told that it had to have been smuggled out of the reserve. Any thoughts? I just thought that it was a cool conversation piece. Thank you
What you were told and reality are two different things. If the reserve had it I highly doubt it would be counterfeit. The reserve does not deal in counterfeit money. That is another government agency. We need pics to better assist.
Three ideas come to mind with this: 1. It is Joe Blow playing games stamping genuine bills with a custom-made stamp. 2. It is a perfectly genuine bill but is perhaps of an older design. Most cashiers, merchants, bank tellers and the public-at-large don't know a thing about older currency designs. Older design notes are often declared to be counterfeit when they are quite authentic (especially on notes that are too old for the useless counterfeit pen to work). 3. Perhaps you do have a counterfeit bill that made its way back into circulation when it shouldn't have. While rather implausible, it is possible whomever stamped it or otherwise had access to it did not want to be the one left losing out on its face value. Please provide clear and non-blurry pictures of each side that are of a decent resolution so that we will be able to better help determine what you have.
If it is counterfeit, BEWARE ! , if you try passing it or selling it you Might find yourself getting a visit from one of these guys !
Agree that it is most likely an older bill without watermarks and security strips, and was marked counterfeit by a teller or someone who doesn't know anything except the new millennial knowledge they were taught while playing with their phone. Need photos.
As is common, the OP was a one time one and done poster. While we will likely never know, it is possible she was scared off and didn't want to respond again due to the intimidating posts of the user "mpcusa"; I knew it was a bad move for this individual to post what was posted but I hoped it would not dissuade the OP from returning and giving an update. Such is life, though. I am not a moderator and have little control over what other members post on here.
That explains everything.. Puerto Rico! They are known counterfeiters! just kidding! I'm Puerto Rican!
I doubt that the poster was scared off, but rather wanted a quick answer, like many new members. Not receiving a conclusive answer, (because no pictures were posted) was probably what led to Fourwheel05 not returning. If it was a 1970s or 1980s tenner, then, it's unfortunate that it was marked counterfeit.
I'm afraid you're a bit late to the party, fretboard. @Fourwheel05 was last seen Feb. 4 of this year.
yeah but we'd still like to see the picture of the "counterfeit stamped bill" if fourwheel05 is reading this.
