They probably would be thrilled with some steel cents, IMHO. Different and neat to them, and they are pretty affordable in some cases. Also, would print out a few pics of Ambro's matte proofs, that would get them interested. ;) :D Best of luck man! :thumb:

Thanks for all of the Suggestions

I am starting the talk by asking simple questions like
Do you know who A Lincoln was, where he lived, say a few words about the White House. I will ask what type of pets did Lincoln have what were their names. Talk about his family only saying had four children, not saying three died young. He was the tallest, the first to have a beard. I have a lot of simple facts about Lincoln. I will see where they take it. I will try to keep it interactive. I am not going to talk about the Civil War and Slavery. They are only 6 and 7 and they willl learn about this stuff soon enough.

I made a packet of three cents for each kid, a Wheat, a Steel and a Memorial.
I will talk about each cent ask them the look at them and tell me about them and talk about what is on the back, what they are made of. I also have a few magnets, so they can pick up the steel cent with it.

My hope is to keep it very interactive, by asking them questions and letting them ask questions.

I am the fourth person to talk about history to them. I was told that the last two got way to technical for them. I will need to remember they are only 6 and 7, and that ice cream will follow my talk. I am the fourth person to talk to them that is why they get the patch when I am finished.

I will let everyone know how it went. Once again, Thank you for all of the suggestions.
Hopefully, I can get a few interested in coin collecting, I will try to plant the seed.

The talk went OK, we discussed a few facts about Lincoln. Then I handed out a packet of three coins, wheat, steel and memorial. Talked about the obverse and reverse. Then I gave each a magnet for the steel cent, I think they liked this the best. A couple of the kids were really in to it, but some of the parents were really interested in the cents. I talked to a few about collecting, the do's and don'ts.

I probably will talk to them again about collecting coins in the future. When they need to check off another activity in their books.

Great. If even one kid becomes a collector your time will have been well spent.

That's cool Zulu and hey we don't want ALL kids to become collectors. Think of the supply and demand issue!

    You did good buddy.
