The "Circulating Set" comes in the cheesy unsealed plastic as pictured above. It's designed to be cheap and easily opened so collectors can fill the holes in their albums. It's essentially an uncirculated set without the nice packaging or any stated or implied level of quality.

So not satin? What about the shiny black one? Satin quarters, or not?

That's how they come packaged from the mint, except not stapled to a piece of plywood.

If it is the same as the latest set, it is proof coins.

But the black one says uncirculated on it. Meow wants to know if there are satin quarters or not, in them.

I think I see the cause of your confusion. From 2005-2010, if you bought an "Uncirculated Set" from the mint, you got the satin finish. So the one in your picture should be satin.

If you bought a roll, or a bag, a "Circulating Set", or plucked one from circulation, you got the non-satin business strike.

Before 2005 and after 2010, there's no difference.

If my memory is correct, the satin finish was used on the Uncirculated Sets in 2010.

I quit buying Mint products in 2008, and they have changed marketing directions so many times that I can't keep up with them.

My suggestion would be to ask the seller if you spot a set that interests you.

So what do you guys think about the S mint ATBs? The non proof ones. Meow tried to find mintage numbers for them, but came up empty.
