    Bonus 1997-P
I thought my original looked a bit rough, although when I looked again today I wondered why I thought so. In any case, I got a 1997-P in mint cellophane, and it's even better. I paid twice as much as the original, but I still spent under $5.

    2005-P Bison
Jefferson appears to be looking to the future in his new portrait.
A new, profile bust of Jefferson appears on the obverse of both 2005 nickels. This was designed by Joe Fitzgerald and modeled for coinage by the Mint's Don Everhart. Reverse types included a bison reminiscent of that on the nickels of 1913-38, as well as a view of the Pacific Ocean as it was first viewed by the Lewis & Clark Expedition in 1805. Quoted on the coin is an entry from Clark's journal: "Ocean in view! O! The joy!"

This is not attributed as such, but I think it is the satin finish.

This nickel completes a panel of the Dansco. The album does not specify which of the two 2004 varieties comes first, and similarly leaves it up to the collector which 2005 varieties go in which slot.

I have strayed from their approach by posting the coins from the same mint in sequence; the album assumes you show the coins with the same reverses together. In the album, the original collector put the Ocean View reverses first, then the Bison reverses. I posted the Bison reverses first.

This is actually the last coin in the first panel.

I have already posted the third coin in the next panel - the 2005-P satin Bison reverse. Tomorrow the 2005-D Bison will be posted, which is the fourth coin in the next pane. (Yes, it confuses me, too.)

Ideally, some of these should be put in with the reverses to the front, or you can't tell which is which anyway.

    Bonus Post
This arrived today and replaces the 1998-P shown in post #433.

I hope I captured some feel of the mirrored finish all over the coin. This was about $535 less expensive than this auction on Heritage: 1998-P 5C MS67 Full Steps PCGS.

Once again the original collector used a mint set satin finish example for the album.

Bonus Post - 2004-S Keelboat Proof
I followed through and replaced the fingerprinted proof with a better one. Much better, I think. Although this is not graded, an PF69 or PF70 would not surprise me.

Love those coins. For anyone who hasn’t been, the Oregon and Washington coastlines are well worth a visit. It’s a very beautiful and mysterious place IMO.

These are quite plentiful. You can get two or three for less than five dollars. This is an extra one I picked up.

This coin is the first one in the very last pane of the Dansco. As you may recall from the first post in this thread, the Dansco only goes through 2011. That leaves only ten more coins after today in this thread.

    05c 2008-D-2011-S.JPG

The image above readily illustrates the difference between the commercial business strikes, SMS satin finish, and proofs. Business strikes are used for 2010 and 2011, and satin finish for 2008 and 2009. Even if they weren't labeled, the proofs would be obvious from their cameo appearance.

    2008-S Proof
It's finally time to answer @Roalef31's question. The 2008-S Proof was the last coin that was filled it in the album. Every other nickel in this last pane was purchased by me to fill out the page. The coin that was in the album has toned gold, but none of the other acquired ones has changed. (As you can see in the album photo in the previous post.) So, yes, I think some coins may tone in the album.

I can't prove this, because there are a lot of untoned nickels in this Dansco, but I don't think I'll check back against my photos in ten years just to see what happens.
