Here is my first silver commen. It's also the first time I have taken photos of a coin, still have a lot to learn the coin is blaze white other than just the smallest hint of tone around the united states on the reverse. Still need to adjust the position of my Ott-lite.

I am not just saying this, but that is my favorite coin ever minted.

Actually, I think those are very good pictures. You do not over shine the lustre away, and you can see pretty darn good. Maybe it is the type of light? Good cam helps also.

Nice commems too, I need to start looking for my 7070 album.

EDIT: Ott-Light...is that the onethey sell at CoinWorld/Amos? the lighting is real accurate on your pics, wish I could capture that look on my silver....

Those are great pics, especially the 2nd and 3rd one! I have the Booker T. and the Washington/Carver commems, and the Stone Mtn. is next on my list (hopefully a nice AU slider, as that's about all I'll be able to afford), unless I find a nice '93 Columbus half first!

Don't know about Amos, I got it at Joann's craft store in the sewing section look for coupons. Sever people recommended the Ott-light on CT. You're right with the 7070, I'm cracking :hammer: this one out of its PCGS case and into the albumn it goes next to the christopher columus 50 cent commen.

I love that comm. too. I think that's a general consensus - so it'll probably be a good investment in the long term too.

Ott lights. I think they're expensive, no?

I have heard and not confirmed that those full-sprectrum flourescent plant growing bulbs do a good job.

My wife just got a camera and I have one of those plant lights. So I'll be fooling around with that in the next couple of days.

Depends on the model you buy. I waited for them to have free shipping and found a 50% off coupon. Thought it was reasonable. However you are right at MSRP they are expensive. I think you're also right in that it is the sprectrum of light from the bulb, not that I'm a professional. I don't have an expensive camara, I'm using my wife's S9 nikon, and yes it is the pink one.

I use those " blue " phillips lights just in a desk lamp. As I get more $$$, I will be looking to vastly improve my pic equiptment. I have wondered about lighting, may tr the plant bulbs..my wife has a cpl.

I'l start a new thread for pics so we don't hijack this one......good subject we all can learn from the experts, there are a cpl real good coin imagers here.
