196???? roosevelt dime

    I found a 196? Roosevelt dime with a complete collar break off the planchette. There is also a planchette chip where the last number in the date would be. I am new to the hobby so any advice is much appreciated

    If it is silver then the date would be 1960-1964. If it is of clad composition then the date would be from 1965-1969. For the dates 1968 and 1969 a letter D may be above the date if the coin was minted in Denver.

    it appears to be clad and I don't see a mint mark. thanks for the reply

    Just for education is the damage the collar broken off (not from the mint). Or just the poor condition the coin is in ?

    I think you mean the Missing Rim.. That was worn away due to circulation. Nothing to do with a Mint Error.
