I remember that in Ireland at the time of the change over, it was a straightforward exchange rate of €1.27 to one IR£1.00
It's generally accepted that the Euro is a flawed currency, introduce primarily as a political entity rather than as an economic one. Even the EU Commission have acknowledged this. There is a very real possibility the Euro Single Currency might get torn apart and become nonviable should the EU fall apart. But to date, the Euro's resilience continues to surprise me.
[QUOTE = "Seattlite86, post: 3383890, membro: 59737"] 450x 2 euros is still 900€, regardless of the mint state of the coin. I don't personally see that as sustainable, but if you do, then I admire your hobby budget [/ QUOTE] 450 are the total emissions expected at the end of 2019, they are not those of 2019, fortunately. But for those who start now from scratch already be able to stand in the equals is tough. I then collect the 2 euro commemorative in coincard, some countries that I particularly like the proof version, and then there are the ministries like Vatican San Marino and Andorra that are more expensive. Also collecting all the ordinary coins in mint condition with a circulation of less than one million pieces, some special cuts like the 5 euros finnish, and a very nice Austrian silver and niobium series. At the end of the year, the expenditure exceeds one thousand euros.
Where are you located that you collect all of these? Also, are you going to the Munich Numismata this weekend?
I am Italian and I live 30 km from Rome. Of monks I collect only the ordinary ones, the commemorative ones are too speculate and I do not like collecting done in this way, so I will not go to Monaco.
I have an American friend in Rome who collects italy coins by year. If you know where he could buy older Italian coins without being totally ripped off, please let me know!
if I collect euro I can help him, otherwise I should know what type he collects. This Saturday I will be in Rome that there is a small numismatic conference.
He collects all Italian coins before the euro, when it was still Lira. Can you give me info on the conference? Maybe I can send it his way.
The conference is at the Serafico school complex, on Via Laurentina. I apologize, in fact, I understood after you meant Munich in Germany and not the Principality of Monaco, sorry.
I find it interesting that, in the twenty years of its existence, the euro has had a lower inflation than for example the Deutsche Mark in the twenty years before that. But of course, if we always discussed this world's currencies with regard to their political backgrounds, we might get into debates that are not welcome, to put it mildly, in these forums. Christian
I collect world coins by type (similar to collecting US type, generally 1940’s and earlier. However, the LCS occasionally has some interesting low mintage mint state euros from small countries, which can be had at little premium to face. I try to snatch up some of those.
I accumulate them and when I have US $200 or more my wife says lets to to Austria or where ever and spend them. I pay $6,000 to spend $200. Makes sense right?
