I came across this this morning. What do you think? Grade and value please. The photo on the obverse appears scratchy, but in person the coin appears almost flawless. Beautiful full mint luster with some light toning on the obverse. It was in a sack of Merc dimes! Thank you!
Looks, Full bands but someone will need to verify that. I know the TPGs have different meanings of FB. That's one hell of a find though epically for roll, err, bag hunting.
Yea, I'm pretty proud of it! Please educate me. If it is full bands I assume that refers to the diagonal bands across the sticks. If so...what does that mean? Thank you.
FB (full bands) means the cross bands are fully separated. If it is, which it looks like it to me. Then its worth more. Edit: Someone else needs to comment, lol.
not the diagonal bands, but the groups of horizontal bands. 3 at the top group, then 2 in the middle and 2 towards the bottom. The seperation of each line must be complete in order to qualify as a Full Bands coin. Although the top and bottom bands look promising, the middle ones are often just barely connected somewhere in the middle. I could not say on this coin without first examining it in hand, but it looks to be possible.
Merc full bands They ARE full bands! Wow! I have been concentrating so much on the diagonal bands. Now what do you think?
Change the lighting up and take some more pictures of the reverse. Try using something other than regular light bulbs (too much yellow in the shots) bright natural light if you have too. You have a very nice dime maybe very-very nice if those center bands are not connected! Lighting can really change how a coin looks sometimes for the better - sometimes for the worse! Thanks for sharing!
Looks full band to me! As far as value I will let people more familiar with the series comment - Great find...
Are you kidding? Wow! Great find. and, yup, sure looks like FSB to my eyes. [but, I wear strong glasses.]
From the original photos - MS64, clearly NOT full bands. Form the second set of photobucket photos - looks to have a better chance at FB. Borderline.
