Can anyone recommend a good book on coin conservation? I'm not going to get into cleaning coins, but I'd like to read up on the restoration processes the conservators used. Thanks.

I don't know of any that have ever been written.

    Doug,
I've come up empty with all my searches too. Just wondering how they learned their craft.

They sell their eternal souls to Lucifer and he teaches them this most foul alchemy.

Look after the Pennies: Numismatics and Conservation in the 1990s by Dana Goodburn-Brown, Julie Jones
Journal of the American Institute for Conservation, Vol. 40, No. 1 (Spring, 2001), pp. 73-74

Thanks CBD, that was the article I read yesterday that got me so interested in the topic.

If you go to Google and type in Coin Resource or Coin consevation, you will be directed to a web site specifically for that subject. There may well be a book by that organization from Coin Resource.

I would suggest getting in touch with your local museum curator

If you buy White's book and read it, keep a salt shaker handy - you'll need a few grains.
