No offense Yoda, but I doubt if that coin is even worth that. Did you notice the rim dings and the wear? With almost 17 million minted, there are thousands and thousands of these coins available in far, far better condition for almost nothing. I collect Mexican coins but I never buy these unless they're part of a group lot that I get for a really low price. These coins are bronze so there's no metal value, and the only way they would have any numismatic value would be in MS or better condition. Personally, I think the values NGC gives for these is very misleading. The "sold" listings on eBay are a much better indicator of value.
BTW Shawna, Welcome to Coin Talk !! Please don't get discouraged. Just keep searching, and keep posting and sooner or later you'll find something really nice. Remember, condition is very, very important.
Oh I think 50 cents is about right for a nice example. Here's my 1957 20 centavo coin star pull. Looks nicer in hand. I really need to get a better camera.
ATTENTION !! ATTENTION!! I stand corrected!! I just checked eBay's sold listings and these 1955 Mexico 20 Centavos coins are selling for +/- $0.50 in average condition and for much more in progressively better condition. [ It just goes to show that what I'm willing to pay is not the same as what the buying public is willing to pay. ] My apologies to all thread participants and especially to ShawnaC and to Yoda.
