I found this 2007 washington quarter and this is what it looks like. As u will see the back of the quarter is pushed way in and there is not marks on the edge as there are on all other quarters im nee to this so i just checking tk see if it error maybe
what does the other side look like ? you can improve your images if you go to a room that has a lot of light instead of the darkest room with a dim table lamp. Also, don't use the camera flash. If you add light make sure it is at a 45 degree angle to the coin so it doesn't reflect directly up to the camera sensor.
It's a quarter. Long answer - it has been spooned by someone. Just google search "spooned coin" and you will see plenty of examples.
My older brother used to "spoon" silver dollars and halves to make himself silver rings. With enough "spooning" the diameter gets smaller and the thickness gets wider. You work it until the size is right and then drill out the center and file the inside smooth. We had a wooden kitchen table and 8 wooden chairs. He worked his rings on the top spindle of the same chair so much that he had a wide, deep groove worn into the top of it. Just imagine, for only 50 cents and a heck of a lot of man hours, you, too, could have a 90% silver hand-made ring....
Unfortunate that people still deface coins in that method. Either finish a ring, or do not spoon it to begin with!
My brother would use the inside of the spoon because it would help keep the coin round as he went. By using the top spindle of a wooden kitchen chair to provide backup, he was able to finish it faster than just holding it in his hand. He would hit and turn, hit and turn, over and over. He used larger coins because he had big fingers.
