I've been working on my version of a typeset for quite a few years.
I finally filled my last hole.
    Here's the finishing touch:

Just noticed the die crack on the obverse from about 9 to 11.
Much more noticeable in this image than it is in hand.

Congrats on the completion of your type set & NEWP. Gorgeous example too!!! One of the types still on my list. ;)

Tell us, how have you defined your typeset? Does it include all 20th century coins? All types?

    Just wondering...Mike

Looks like the Hot Chicks of American Coinage typeset.. I'm trying for the same thing. When I finish that, it will be the Hot Chicks of World Coinage next..

    Nice!! It sure is pretty.

Of course, as someone told me on one of my post....the perverbial stick is left in the closet & waiting for somone else to bring it out. Heck, I can't remember the exact wording but it was a good laugh.

Glad your "last hole is filled". LOL

    Peace

My typeset is whatever I could afford in XF or better.
That pretty much limited my oldest to:
    Half Cents - Draped Bust
    Cents - Classic Head
    Half Dimes - Capped Bust
    Dimes - Capped Bust
    Quarters - Capped Bust
    Halves - Capped Bust
    Silver Dollars - Seated Liberty
    Gold Dollar - Liberty Head
    $2.50 - Classic Head
$3.00 - Indian Princess Head (only type)
    $5.00 - Classic Head
    $10.00 - Coronet
    $20.00 - Coronet

Several coins had to be VF rather than XF:
    1814 Large Cent (Classic Head)
1807 Half Dollar (Capped Bust / Lettered Edge)
    1836 $5.00 (Classic Head)

My most recent coin is a 1943 Steel Cent in PCGS MS-66.
I've got other newer coins but I'll start looking seriously for MS-65 to -67 ones now.

and a couple of the capped busts, esp. the half

    I particularly like the 1837.
I've got a "thing" for prominent die cracks.

That's a good way to do it.

Tell me, did you collect all of the seated types -- with arrows, without arrows, without drapery, etc?

Being a type collector myself, I have really struggled with including all these (sub)types in my set, and was wondering how you've handled this situation.

    Take care & again congrats!...Mike

    The short answer is "yes".
Of course I hope I was able to read the catalog correctly and get all the subtypes.

    For Seated Liberty coins:

For the Half Dimes, here's what I have:
    SL No Stars
    SL No Drapery/Stars
    SL Drapery/Stars
    SL Arrows
    SL Legend Obv

For the Dimes, here's what I have:
    SL No Stars
    SL No Drapery/Stars
    SL Drapery/Stars
    SL Arrows
    SL Legend Obv
    SL Arrows

For the Quarters, here's what I have:
    SL No Motto/No Drapery
    SL No Motto/Drapery
    SL Arrows/Rays
    SL Arrows/No Rays
    SL Legend Obv
    SL Arrows

For the Halves, here's what I have:
    SL No Motto/No Drapery
    SL No Motto/Drapery
    SL Arrows/Rays
    SL Arrows/No Rays
    SL Motto
    SL Arrows

For the Dollars, here's what I have:
    SL No Motto
    SL Motto

Cases like the Dimes where I show 2 "SL Arrows" have one coin from each of the two "arrows" periods.

The nice thing about typesets is that you can set your own definition that will fit your perception and your wallet.

Thank you for your response. I'm not the biggest fan of the seated types, and with all of the varieties a signifciant portion of my type set would be dedicated to them -- to date I've struggled buying coins that don't really interest me, and I may just get one of each of the denominations.

    Ain't that the truth. :)

    VERY nice job Kanga!

Any set that requires years is well thought out and worth doing.

Of course now you'll be wanting to add and upgrade for eternity.
