1868 d with solid D under the date

    Hi, whats up everyone? I have a 68 D but the D looks solid, anyone seen that on this coin?

    Grease filled mint mark. Common on Lincoln cents.

    The mintmark on the die that is filled with grease and debris would disappear. That isn't the case here. It could be the result of a broken die or just circulation damage.

    @Jimvan - We need a better close-up of the mintmark.

    That is a simple Die Chip. That is why the Mint Mark looks solid.
