Its gonna be a spender. if that was a repeater (212212212) That would've been worth something, but unfortunately not your note
Repeater serial numbers on modern US notes are always even numbers of two or four, like 12121212 or 12341234, never nine digits, like above.
Nice note! I would hang on to it. Keep your eyes open for others. The nay-sayers here really have a narrow viewpoint. Numbers are as interesting as you make them. As MPCUSA said in a different thread on the same topic of a note that others said to spend, it is a good poker hand and people play "Liar's Poker" with dollar bills. We did that one night at our coin club with the prizes just being the usual door prizes, but it was nice to see the arrays that people found. (The rules were you had to find in circulation since the previous meeting.) Every serial number is unique. Start with that. People go ape over 07041776 or 04071776 and so on. But there is story, I think that it was Srinivas Ramanujan and G. H. Hardy, a couple of mathematicians, and I am sorry not to know it exactly but it was like "I have your train ticket old man... Hmmm... not a very interesting number." "Oh, but of course it is! 4272066! See: 20.66 is the square root of 427." It depends on your relationship with numbers. https://www.cointalk.com/threads/need-help-with-special-serial-numbers-project.333671/
I agree with this and your previous posts in other threads that serial numbers are interesting (they got me looking for the scientific constants). However, the OP asked if his note was worth anything. It isn’t. The problem with many of the “special” or “almost” serial numbers such as birth dates, zip codes, trinaries, etc is finding a buyer if the number isn’t special too you. I believe that’s what the naysayers were getting at. Just my opinion.
My view here is it's a cool serial number and for $1...I would hang on to it if I found it in change because I like it. But, it's not worth a premium.
It does not fit into any of the Fancy Serial number categories.. But I'm not that narrow. Guess what. It's a type of Flipper Serial number See if you can figure it out!
The note you s The note you showed with 86xxxx86 is called a BOOKEND. There are some for sale on ebay. Decide for yourself what to do about it. Remember though that some things have a value imperfect condition and no value in worn or damaged condition. good luck
I would call it a small bookend.. I consider a large bookend more desirable.. like this one from my collection - 948 65 948
