In the odd things department, I sold a car to a junkyard and the tow truck driver gave me as part of the payment. A Series 1988 $100 bill. As I took it I thought I saw on old style note, but in those situations you quickly pocket the money. When I got home I examined it. It's a XFish Series 1988 $100.

Now I have to figure out if it's worth more then face.... I might scan it.

Been having good luck with notes lately, and I am in no way a currency collector. Though if this luck continues.... I might need to rethink that

i would love to see pics!. value above face lie moslty with condition for the more modern years. For the most part, none of the printed districts had any rarities as far as low number go. But even in low grades, all old notes will be worth more then face some day! they will just take longer and not climb as fast.

Pics woudlbe the best way to determine a keeper or value. But forme, if in any way possible, i would try to keep it!

Personally, in those situations, I take a moment to verify the authenticity of the money that I was handed. If you are handed a counterfeit note, good luck getting it rectified after you put the money in your pocket.

    Either way, nice find.

When you do a cash transaction out of doors, there is always a risk that some miscreant might see you. So you eye the corners of the bills for denominations and quickly stick them in your pocket. I trust this company, they are upstanding.

It's the same way at an ATM, -never- stand there and count the money. Just pocket it and move away from the area. Check it later.

Your safety is more important then the off chance of a counterfeit.

At least at an ATM there are cameras, not so in the place I was doing business.

nice find!:) i rarely see any old style notes anymore. as for value it is worth $100 right now but if you can afford to keep it, stash it away for a few years.
