I have this Pakistani note labeled 1 Rupee, actually, i have 4 of them. I cannot seem to find it anywhere in the Krause books. I was wondering if anyone could help me attribute this note:

I also have this Italy note, a 500 Lire note that i cannot find in the Krause books.

I have found notes similar to the notes above, but nothign to fit the description for both the obverse AND reverse. Also, one thing i found in more then 1 spot of the Krause books "Standard Catalog Of World Paper Money", are images for a note, that is wrong for the descrption. I Have looked and re-looked and RE-looked for the 2 notes above, paying attention (or at least trying to) to the fact that a pictured note might not be the correct note for the descrption.

Any help in identifying these 2 notes would be greatly appreciated!

umm, well ... the notes did come in a bit big! if they are too big, let me know i can shrink them rather easily.

Ok, so i didnt wait. the images were just way to big, so i shrunk them to fit better - and to make the file sizes easier for people to download to view.

Thanks. It was kind of like what i thought. The image they show in the book as 24 and 24a is actually 8, 9 or 9a. The image in the book shown for 24 and 24a shows the Naulakha Pavilion in the Lahore Fort with arches on the reverse, where as it should be the Minar-i-Pakistan, a place where the famous resolution calling for Pakistan's founding took place.

I recently had that same issue on some notes from India. I was able to catch that one because they showed the same note for 2 different denominations one right below the next, so it was somewhat easy to catch. this one from Pakistan i missed completely!!!

    Thanks!!!

Now... does anyone know about the Italy note? It could be the same type of error. I looked the notes in the book over very well, but considering i mised the Pakistan notes mistake in the book, there very well could be the same type in Italy. I will have to look again, but if there is an error in the book - i just might miss it again. So if anyone else spots it - please let me know. thanks!

What i have found in the Krause books and confirmed Here - i belive the Italian 500 lire note above is P-94.

The date to the right along ther border of the note helped. I did not see that before. I had made an assuption that led me astry ... in the Krause book, P-93 500 lire shows a design unlike the p-94 that i have. I made the incorrect assumtion that the 94 note was similar to the p-93 note. Normaly, if the note has a different design, they would show the correct image in the Krause book. Another issue i had was with the description of P-94 in the book. The write up describes the "Mercury at right" but says nothign about the design element on the reverse.

Either way, as i discover more and more wrong in the Krause Catalogs :D i have learned the secret identities of both the notes in the original post.

If you find errors in the Krause books, send them to George Cuhaj at Krause (George.Cuhaj@fwpubs.com). It should get you listed as a contributor in the next edition.

i have sent emails in the past concerning notes not in the book, i even emailed high resolution scans. I have never gotten any type of response, so i quit emailing him. The books are WIDELY used, so i would have to think that someone somewhere has allready informed them. I know that the possibility is out there that everyone who foudn what i found is thinking the same thing and so nothign gets done - but with the emails i have sent, and never getting a reply - well, i just never know if they are even reading the emails.
