I was recently coin roll hunting and came across this coin. A 199? Lincoln Cent. There is a image of the date, no raised numbers, the LIB in liberty are missing as well as letters in IN GOD WE TRUST. On the reverse - in UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, the only letter that is normal is the R. The rest are faint or completely missing. ONE CENT has partially missing letters. E PLURIBUS UNOM has only E-PL & UN showing. Then to top it off, I noticed a slight rotation of about 15 to 20 degrees. This is the first true error coin I have ever found. The question is should I send it in for authentication and grading?
Please post clear photos of both sides Welcome to Coin Talk. Please post clear photos of both sides of the coin. It's difficult to give any information without seeing it. I would suggest you not send it in for grading/authentication without getting opinions from members on Coin Talk. IMO he slight rotation of 15 to 20 degrees isn't enough to increase the value of a coin.
It's a nice find. But not worth sending. It's not a major issue. Worn Die and the slight rotation is within Mint tolerance
