Blind registry buyers are few and far between. The best sets buy the best coins, not just make someone rich. Hopefully you've expressed that
Still I'd rather see Gold it adds a wow factor, the coin has great eye appeal for a 65 even a 66. But, lest just not throw a number at it and see if it sticks. And 67+CAC definitely didn't stick too well. It is what it is. Because: The almighty have spoken. My opinion there is NO wow in that coin. And that's what I would like to see out of a 67+ CAC.
I'm no Walker expert, but my first impression of that coin is that it's over-graded, as an MS-65. The obverse strike looks far too mushy to be anything better than a MS-64, much less a MS-67... and a + at that... WOW. Does strike not account for anything in the upper MS grades?
I think it’s good looking. I like it in the rattler with a gold bean at 66+ money. So a few hundred bucks. Plus the toning premium. I don’t think it’s a 67. A few too many marks and a weaker strike keeps it out or the top level
Have you ever actually seen the coin? Opinions aren’t all worth the same. It’d be better to just stop right there.
So let’s look at it with real facts. Everyone who thinks they know better than not only PCGS but also CAC and JA. So I would like to know when you guys saw the coin in hand, why you should be considered an expert and why your opinion should mean more. Please describe this info
I wish I had. In the pics I see a few more bagmarks than I’d like to see in hand regardless it’s no 65 either I think its an eye appealing high end 66 or low end 67. Why I’d just gold beaned it and sold it. I like those old holders a lot
You are the captain of your own ship, if you can't see for yourself what keeps this from being the grade posted. Then I don't know what to tell you. CAC is supposed to be the icing on the cake. This one is just too soft in the middle.
So you can grade better than not only PCGS but CAC and JA as well based off s picture? Is that what you’re saying?
I am leaving that assumption up to you. I have said my peace about this coin. It's nice with a gold bean on a 65 rattler.
I think you’re making a rather large leap with this line of thinking. Not only have you presented a false dichotomy, but an appeal to authority. Either someone is saying they’re better than all these authoritative graders, or they’re wrong. Grades are opinions. Some opinions carry more weight, but they’re still opinions. If you think this is a 67+, you’re welcome to your opinion and to pay 67+ money for it. I’m of a different opinion, because if I can see this much with just pictures...
What this guy said. Like I noted a few posts north of here, I'm no Walker expert, yet any novice should be able to call that mushy strike out with just that image. Yes the coin has lovely luster and color, but I would expect a Philly mint, late-date Walker to have much sharper central details if it's a 65, 66, and especially a 67. PCGS and JA are NOT infallible. I've seen more stickered gold coins than I care to that while PCGS may have straight-graded as a "market acceptable" coin, have no business wearing the green bean.
