1940 something wheat penny with only 3 digits and is heavily deformed

    I don't know what the reason is but my picture above, comes and goes. Sometimes I have to edit it for it to come back.

    Hi Gary,welcome to Coin Talk. Your cent is the result of a filled die. Often the die got grease from the machinery on them & don’t show some of the details. A common error with little premium but a fun saver for a collector. Start your own new thread next time for quicker responses

    Hey Joe, welcome to CT. These guys are truly experts in the field of coin collecting. Most have been doing it for over 30 years they have seen just about everything that could do damage to a coin. They have over a 100 years combined studying coins. So if they say it was damaged by whatever then it is surely damaged period. Arguing with the experts is not going to change the coin or what happened to it.
