I got two rolls of Halves and two rolls of Nickels from the bank. I found a single 1966 half that was easily MS 64 or so. Skunked on the Nickels

I just did my first ever roll of Halves, nothing. The bank had no boxes of cents, so I will be going back in an hour after the loomis truck does its delivery.

Just got done going through a box of nickels and a box of pennies.

Here's the results from the pennies:
    17 wheats:
    5 from the '50's
    10 from the 40's
    1-1925-s
    1-1917
no errors that I could find

Here's the results from the nickels:
    35 pre60
    18 from the 50's
    15 from the 40's
    2 from the 30's
    1-1945D war nickel
    no buffs

2 pretty good boxes. Got 3 more boxes of pennies to go through. I'll report another day on how I do with those.

Just got done going through 3 more boxes of pennies.
    Box 1:
    11 wheats

    Box 2:
    8 wheats (1-1920)

    Box 3:
    15 wheats
    1-2000 Wide "AM"

    Total dates:
    50s - 15
    40s - 14
    30s - 3
    20s - 2

Below average for errors, but 2 boxes had a bunch of wheats so that makes up for them I guess.

What is "average" for errors, and what kind of "errors" are we talking here?

I had been finding about 1 error every other box. This time it took 4 boxes to get one error. I think the one I found is actually called a "variety", but I call it an error. I search for doubled dies and the so-called "varieties".

so close but yet so far. went through a box of dimes tonight. While searching the rims I found two that were nice and white. My heart was pounding the only way it can when silver is about to be found, to my surprise two 1985 canadian dimes. Are they not clad layered?

it's an oxymoron in coin collector lingo.
Of course the coin has been "circulated" with change, BUT the quality still appears to be much much less circulated than the rest...and it's just easier and more traditional to just call it uncirculated. Even PCGS gives coins grades of MS-65+ that have been found in rolls of circulated coins and MS-65+ is uncirculated in coin lingo.

heh technically, even the production process of certain coins at the U.S. Mints intended for circulation are ALREADY circulated a tiny bit (still, that's circulated, they've been through machines and dropped into rolls slamming into each other.) thus even though the whole roll can easily be graded MS68-69 and 70, they've been thrown around already in the mint haha.
We cannot challenge the ways of the mint however. They supply the hobby!

Went through 20 rolls of lincolns this evening. 10 from one bank and 10 from another. From one bank believe it or not... NOT A SINGLE COPPER cent. There were some 82's in there and even they were non-coppers. I think this is the last time, I'll get plasti-wrap rolls. I have better luck with paper rolls. Is that pretty much par for the course, paper versus shrunk wrapped rolls?

in nickels i always have better luck with plastic wrap than paper. so much so i only get paper rolls when ever all the other banks with plastic wrap are out.

    Hello everyone,

Been a little busy this week. Went through a box of Dimes, found one 1946d dime. However while at the bank I had to turn in some of the pennies I had been stock piling from other rolls, and after i was through I checked the place where the coins are dropped if the machine rejects them, found a 1944 wheat back, and a 1978 1 dollar Canadian Coin. Not to bad:D. Oh i have bought a couple rolls of nickels as i am around town, nothing special at all:cool:

Now I went and bought two more boxes of pennies, just cracked the first one.
So far here are my finds:
    2 Canadian coins
    1989, 1980
    2 Wheat Pennies
    1950d, 1956d
    97 pieces of copper hoarded
and here are my list of keepers:
    1959 (1), 1960(1), 1960d*AU*(1), 1964(2), 1965(1), 1968*1 is AU*(5), 1969(2), 1970(1), 1972(1), 1974(1), 1976(1), 1978(1), 1979(1), 1980(1), 1981(1), 1985(1), 1993(2), 1994(2), 1998(1), 2005(5), 2006(2), 2007(13)

More to come....no 2008's yet either. this will be my 3rd and 4th boxes of pennies this year.

    Regards,

Did 2 boxes of nickels and found a perfect 1943-P silver. All steps there and
very nice shine to it. Also a no date buffalo. About 50 pre 60 nickels to go in the sort later box. Very happy with the 43, I know its the most common one in the wartime but man is it nice. Think someones collection got spent, kind of sad. Till next time. JOHN

One of my banks has a coin machine, no charge for customers, but my other banks do not, but they act as the source.

Here are roll searching results from last week when I searched through 7 boxes of coins from banks, that was all I could get at the time:

I searched through 7 $25.00 boxes of cents, with the cooperation and even
some encouragement from several of my local banks tellers over the last 4
days. Cent boxes are getting a bit hard to find now, I do know I have
competition for them, so now you have to get in good with the tellers(one of
them collects coins, so I sell her goodies at face to save stuff for me)

So for 4 days of sifting through cents I came up with the following:

    USA
    Wheats
    1916-D
    1917-D
    1920
    1924

On Saturday I returned the Zincolns to the bank coin machine, and the
total payback came to something like $36.72 so the teller gave me the 72¢ in
change. This would become the best find of all, a 1945 Washington quarter,
in silver of course. I asked if she had anymore like it but alas no.
