That was my original estimation to. I thought 64 was a solid grade, but had potential for a 65 depending on the grader and what it looks like under the light. Then I showed these images to another friend and he mentioned the rim dings on it and said it was likely a 63-64. Thoughts on the rim dings?
Haha I would say no. Anything you do will likely remove luster from that spot and be evident to collectors/graders. Best thing would be to send it in to PCGS or NGC for restoration and see what they can do.
I bought this on eBay but it's getting returned. The seller modified his photos to hide the fingerprints and slab scratches.
@BlackberryPie, is the toning on the lower right obverse "terminal" black? You can always get it re-holdered, but the fingerprint would be a big no for me too. I can see traces of it in the field in front of Ms. Liberty's nose.

It's terminal. I don't mind terminal toning but it's the fingerprints that bother me and the fact the seller attempted to hide them.
I absolutely can't find it. The dealer thought maybe he could see something on the right wing, I can't see it. The scratches under the arrowheads, and the smudge over "ONE" are on the holder. Really the eyebrow area shows the most contact IMO. Maybe I'll have to take some more pics and start a "find the wheel mark" thread.
