Nail polish from a long time ago? I used to do that to coins and matchbox cars. Just a guess but thatz all we can do as we weren't there to do it.
it's all damage.. It is not a Mint Error Saltwater affects silver coins such as yours. Some strange chemical reaction. I have detected many silver coins that look like dark crud. It's not copper.
Your silver dime tumbled in a brackish or saltwater environment. That's what it looks like after a long time in those conditions.
ARE YOU SERIOUS??? Look at the corrosion on that coin. You've been posting on here for a little while and have been given some great links that show how coins and dies are made, identifying errors, etc. I don't know what's worse, you actually thinking this could be a mint error or your continuing to question the responses. Maybe it's time to consider another hobby
One validating remark and this goes up on ebay for a grand. Anyone remember my post about 'crushfresh" on Listia and his "RARE" forging error? Seems like that is where this is going.
