Here's an interesting $2 dollar bill. The bill is in pretty good shape nice and crispy. It also has three folds and as you can see the upper right conner of the bill is missing. The reason for the missing right conner is that $2 dollar bills are suppose to bring bad luck. So as the story goes if you receive a $2 dollar bill your suppose to tear a conner off. That way you wont get the bad mojo on you. Lou
i hate retarded people with their retarded superstitious BS that ruins perfectly good money. i would say sorry if that offends anyone but im not sorry. do people really believe a 2 dollar bill is bad luck or just someone's attempt to demonize a piece of paper with ink on it? i really cant imagine anyone believing that a form of money is bad luck. are people really this ignorant?
From an article I was just reading: "A $2 bill is unlucky. It is a reminder of the deuce in a deck of cards. And deuce means devil. If you have a $2 bill, you can change your luck by tearing a corner off the bill."
Well SmokeMonkey some people do belive that it's true. Read this http://www.snopes.com/business/money/twodollar.asp Lou
I was at a club once. Ordered 6 beers (for the table, not just for myself). The bill was about $33. I gave the girl $38 in $2's. She told me that they couldn't accept them because they didn't fit in the drawer. After she talked to her manager, she accepted the bills. For the life of me, I still can't figure out what she meant when she said they wouldn't fit in the drawer.
The cash registers only have slots for the 1, 5, 10 and 20 dollar bills. That's probably what she was thinking. Lou
And I'm sure that all four of those were so full that they just couldn't fit one more bill in there, let alone 18 $2 bills. On a positive note, when I went to pay for the parking that same night, the bill acceptor in the parking garage correctly accepted $2 bills even though the sign only said $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills.
thats crazy, who in the world would do that?!:headbang: that would have been a nice looking red seal too.
Unlucky notes? By golly, by gee... In my youth it was a privilege to have a two dollar bill. For me it was four hours of babysitting someone's kids. Fortunately I wasn't raised where the voodoo is/was. To tear a corner off?... sacrilegious to the money god, to say the least. Yet, over the years I have collected a great little collection of bits of torn currency that I find when I am out and about. Funny, no two dollar bills in the collection... yet. teehee. jeankay
Interesting to say the least. So a $2 note is bad luck. More like stupid people are bad luck and unfortunately they breed.
My first memory in the early '60sof a $2 bill is a corner (apparently the upper-right corner) needed to be torn off to bring good luck. I remember showing a $2 bill to a guy that worked on our farm and he immediately tore off the upper-right corner. I asked him why he did that and he said if you tore the corner off a $2 bill and carried it in your wallet it would bring you luck. Come to think of it, he may be the same guy that swore Apollo 11 didn't land on the Moon and that all the images of the "Moon landing" were shot somewhere in the desert.
